The Cataloging Department catalogs materials that the Libraries add to
their collections. The staff are skilled in a variety of languages
and trained to catalog the different formats acquired by the Libraries.
Along with thousands of libraries in the United States and around
the world, we are a member of OCLC, the Online Computer Library Center.
This is an organization whose members contribute catalog records to
a centrally managed database containing over 30 million catalog records.
We edit the OCLC record according to our policies and upload it to
our catalog. The materials are assigned call numbers and building
locations, and barcodes are applied and the materials are sent onto
the Preservation Department.
